From a 3-Acre Site to a Trusted Building Company
Before there was a company, there were two brothers, Ted and Ron Hoover, who traveled to Wisconsin to learn the trade of post-frame construction. They brought that knowledge home to South Carolina, and in 1972 they staked out a 3-acre site in Lexington and started building.
There was no blueprint for a 50-year company back then – just two brothers, a handful of tools and a commitment to building things the right way. That same mindset is still what runs the company today. Hoover Building Systems has grown from that small Lexington site into two full-service locations, but it's still a family business built on the same values Ted and Ron started with.
More Than 50 Years of Building
Hoover Buildings Is Founded
Ted and Ron Hoover establish Hoover Building Systems on a 3-acre site in Lexington, South Carolina.
The Company Expands
Hoover moves to its current 10-acre Lexington location and expands into wholesaling and retailing post-frame building components.
Hoover Trusses Begins
Hoover starts manufacturing roof trusses to support its own building operations before expanding truss sales to the public.
Greer Location Opens
A second operation is established in Greer to serve the growing Upstate customer base with its own sales staff and construction crews.
50 Years & the Next Generation
In 2022, Hoover Buildings celebrated 50 years of Building Value and began an exciting new chapter. Over the years, owners Ron Hoover, Ted Hoover, and Pat Richardson helped grow the company while maintaining the values, quality, and customer relationships on which Hoover Buildings was founded.
Building on that foundation, Craig Richardson and Aaron Williams joined the ownership team as the next generation of Hoover leadership. Today, Ron, Ted, and Pat remain actively involved in the day-to-day business, working alongside Craig and Aaron and sharing the knowledge and experience gained over more than five decades.
Together, all five owners remain committed to honoring Hoover’s legacy while investing in our people, technology, capabilities, and customer experience to build an even stronger company for the future.
